Princesa de la mitología griega que fue encarcelada en una cueva de piedra por su padre, Acrisio, rey de Argos, para que ésta no tuviera decendencia, ya que el oráculo manifestó que el rey sería asesinado por su propio nieto. Pero Zeus, Dios de todos los dioses se enamoró de Danae y apareció en forma de lluvia sobre la cueva y la princesa dejándola embaraza, haciendo que florezca la vida en forma de Perseo.

The God Zeus desired her and showered the cave in rain thus impregnating her with a son. This ancient tale of mystical rains highlights the artists vision of water as a source of life.
